Site: A pond in Melody Ranch
Date: May 8, 2008
Time: 5:30 pm
Temperature: 57 Degrees F
Weather: very cloudy with a light rain shower
Soil: light rain with moist soil

In the last four days I have seen little change. The change has mostly been in the weather and water level. It seems that the water in the pond has risen about a half an inch. This can help the hygiene of the pond benefiting birds and other organisms by making the water cleaner. The light rain has not affected the biotic organisms in my area. They continue to feed and interact in the water. There are three geese that are benefitting from the habitat of my area.

Great, detailed first observation. If you feel like you run out of things or ideas to talk about in your observations, take what you see and connect them to the ecology concepts covered in class (interactions between organisms, predator/prey interactions, limited resources).
